Every day we face an information overflow; data is coming at us through so many channels that it is difficult to weed out the gems that are important to us from all the noise. For those who are not social media mavens, the whole problem can be intimidating. Project Emporia offers a solution to this. It sifts through ever-evolving news streams to identify hot news stories, categorizes them into topic areas and ranks them, and then presents them to you in a friendly and easy-to-use UI. With Project Emporia you get relevant stories on topics of YOUR choice. You can influence how future stories are chosen for you, one vote at a time. Your votes will improve the relevance of your news story choices not just for you, but for every other user as well. * Project Emporia is a release from Microsoft Research FUSE Labs. * Project Emporia identifies relevant news stories and surfaces them categorized by topic, by keyword or by your social circle (Twitter friends and friends-of-friends list). * Project Emporia allows you to easily share the most relevant stories with your friends on Twitter or Facebook. * Project Emporia can be used both on your mobile phone or the web at https://www.projectemporia.com. * Project Emporia allows to easily curate your Twitter friends list by contextual relevance * Project Emporia gives users a way to tap the pulse of the Internet. 11/9/2012This was amazing. Sad to see it be terminated.
11/7/2012This was a great app! Hate to see it go.
9/30/2012I'd give it 4 stars for the content it digs up, but it is so ridiculously slow and is not very good for reading the articles it finds. It takes over 20 seconds to return from reading an article to getting back to the list. It also takes about a minute from launch to actually being ready to read something. Hey Microsoft, my time has value. Performance is important. Make more responsive apps or get out of the business.
7/14/2012Good app, but I like to stay in-app when reading news... Not just seeing a headline and have to load full pages from the source
7/11/2012Can't connect even on fast WiFi.
7/2/2012Great app. Just needs to be faster. Initial load times are way too slow.
6/30/2012Impossibly slow even on WiFi and new phone. Nice concept and interface. Uninstalled b/c it cannot be used.
6/29/2012too slow and poor design... It's not good for a big company
6/15/2012Best news aggregate I've found. Should be expanded to a double tile like calendar and needs live updates on tile. Channel sources could be easier to organize and it could be a bit faster. Other than that great.
