Horrible, broken, slow a step back in every way. Been a Zune /xbox music subscriber for years... Still have my old 10 free songs subscription, but I will be forced to cancel my subscription because of this useless app. They started over from scratch supposedly because they were unable to easily and quickly update the app.... The result is a slow broken u working pile of **** that they seem ironically unable to quickly update and fix. I gave them plenty of time hopeful they would get their act together... They seem unable too. Totally disappointing.

If you guys had already mastered the music player with Zune, why the hell does this music plays suck so much? It doesn't even open. You click on the app and it just stays loading forever. Its things like these that make me consider switching over to something other than windows phone.

Coming from my Lumia 800's WP7.5, WP8 is a huge let-down with the abysmal music app. The USB sync tool is awful, the app fails to play a specific song and starts some other instead while still displaying the first one's song info. The covers are totally wrong or not displayed at all, although PC and other music apps manage just fine. Swiping to forward to next song ends in accidental side swipes and random touches are triggered, so I involuntarily open featured artist pages. The Now Playing page occasionally disappears, playlist displays are sluggishly refreshed. Overall it's really awful. I can't believe it, but WP7 was so much better at music.

Update: 7/8: Completely broke local music listening. Had to reset the phone to get it working again. I have an Xbox Music pass that I paid for and I'm leaving the Show Streaming Music option off. Still really slow but it finally plays my local music (eventually, patience required). Oh yeah, still lots of crashing. Update: 5/24: It's getting worse! The update removed all downloaded music and attempting to download a single song crashes the app. Still slow, now totally unusable. Update 5/17: Still very very slow. Reverted to using the built in 8.0 experience via Music Hub Live Tile. Can't effectively use my paid Xbox Music subscription on my phone. Very very slow, even playing locally stored music. Barely usable on 8.1 and a big step back from 7.5 and 8.0. Very worrying.
