MetroMail is the first third-party email client for Windows Phone. It improves user experience by significantly expanding the functionality offered by the native email client. It also brings a first-class experience for Gmail users, which includes all major Gmail-specific functionality, and instant notifications. NOTE: The free ad-supported version allows full functionality for a single email account. For adding additional accounts, removing ads, and supporting future development, purchasing the full version is required. An unrestricted free 30 day trial is also offered. Why use MetroMail as an Outlook/IMAP user? - Swipe actions for managing emails - Attach files from either your device or your OneDrive account - Ability for editing replies (plain-text only) - Individual tile colors for each account - Individual notification sound for each account - Individual toast notification support with night mode for each account - Tile counts are synced across all your devices (i.e. reading emails will reset the tile count on all your devices) - Concatenate multiple accounts under one unread counter (for use with a single live tile or the lock screen) - No longer break threads for non-Outlook (e.g. Thunderbird, Gmail) users when replying to emails - Proper handling of embedded email images - Choose between small/medium/large/original when attaching photos - Support for HTML signatures Why use MetroMail as a Gmail user? - All of the above plus: + Instant notifications via IMAP IDLE + First-class support for archiving, starred emails, and labels + Support for inbox tabs (e.g. Primary, Social, Promotions) + Server-side search functionality with support for advanced Gmail search operators + Support for multiple From addresses within the same account Security & Privacy: - The application only connects directly to your provider's servers and your password is never seen, processed, or stored by the app. Version 3.3: - Update: Attachments in emails are now displayed in a single row - Fix: UI improvements when displaying an email in landscape orientation [Gmail] - Fix: Addressed bug with moving emails to system folders [Gmail] Version 3.2.1: - Fix: Addressed issue with opening drafts Version 3.2: - Update: UI and performance improvements - Fix: Addressed a bug that would sometimes result in the app crashing when switching between accounts - Fix: Better authentication handling for non-SSL connections [IMAP] - Other bug fixes
10/23/2014Probably the best mobile email client regardless of mobile platform. Supports labels and Google mail flawlessly.
10/23/2014I've used this app on the surface, iPhone and now the Windows phone. It's good on the others, but this platform... It struggles. It's buggy functionality is just plain annoying.
10/22/2014So much better than native client. Very battery friendly. True push notifications. Awesome User interface! Great workkkk!!!! 😁😁😁
10/22/2014Great app, but notification and live tile need some work. Does not update with correct number unread mails. When trying to adjust livetile and notification in app it crash. Cool that it is possible to apply labels to mails and the navigation in the is good.
10/22/2014I need personal and receipt section for my Gmail and outlook account this is a must. Please add those then it will be a 5 star app. It is a top 5 app.
10/21/2014This is a great app for Gmail with instant notifications, however their notification service has gone down several times recently, often for days at a time. Otherwise good app.
10/21/2014------New Update 9/24/14------ I've been contacted by the developer and they are claiming this is a WP platform issue. So I'm restoring 3 stars because the developer is putting the effort into resolving the problem. -----prior review----- Updating my review - deducting multiple stars for adding advertisements to an app that I've paid for...ie forcing ads where I've purchased the "remove ads" option. Very disappointing.
10/21/2014Works really well.
10/21/2014Only suggestion: Have editable drafts. Like the last couple of reviews I've read, I just switched over from Android and was looking for a solid Gmail app. It took me multiple searches but I FINALLY found my solution: Metromail. Syncs not only my labels, but my different inboxes and drafts!
