The Media Center Remote app along with the corresponding Media Center Remote Command Listener can control your Windows Media Center computer and extenders over the WiFi in your house. You can browse your Music, Picture, and Video libraries on your phone. Search for songs, artists, and albums to Play or Queue or browse your collections as well as playlists to play on your Media Center. You can also Play pictures and picture albums, or videos. The WP7 app also provides the ability to control basic functions like Play, Stop, Previous, and Next, along with Volume and Channel control. You can control the interface from your phone using directional buttons or a gesture pad to 'swipe' through the menus. There is also remote keyboard functionality. Extenders such as the Xbox 360 are also supported! A Windows Media Center Add-in must be installed in order to use this app. The Add-in installer and app user guide can be found at www.TheMediaCenterProject.com. You must download Media Center Remote Command Listener version 5.0.0 for this version! New in 3.0 is the ability to autodiscover Media Center computers and Extenders on the network.
4/16/2013Cannot connect to media center. Not sure what method this app is using. It would be nice telling what I need to do on my part to make this work.
2/11/2013Please let app more pretty. Thank you.
12/28/2012Super cool app, must have if you use WMC; works on WP8 as well, although required a restart of my phone after install to find my wireless connection.
4/17/2012Works as advertised, the app could use more instructions or at least a link to the website
2/4/2012Have some trouble with a large media collection, but other then that done really well. Gestures and speech features are a lot of fun
11/5/2011listener integrates easily with HTPC without taking up resources. Remote functions great with HTPC and XBOX 360, but desperately needs ability to control Recorded TV - for me this is the primary reason for using Media Center.
6/4/2011Works really well for my needs. Use a Xbox 360 exteder connected to my audio system with speakers on my deck. I can controll and listen to my MC music collection with the extender and TV off from my deck. Loading App - takes 3 seconds; works with my PC MediaCenter and Xbox MC Extender. Loading Music - takes about 20 seconds (about 5,500 songs tagged); music needs to load each time app is started; queuing and playing works great. Loading Pictures - takes about 5 seconds to load initial preview image page, paging takes less than 1 second to refesh with preview image; needs sort by tags defined and date option Loading Videos - takes about 5 seconds to load first page of videos, paging less than 1 seconds; no preview image; wouldn't let me start Recorded TV displayed in list; needs sort by date option Remote Control - works great; small lag Mouse - work good; small lag; hard to place finger in touch screen and look up at results each time Keyboard - works perfect
5/31/2011Good app and developer got right back to me until it worked. It does lag and you have to set phone screen lock to always on because when you unlock you have to start over with finding extender or computer. If you have a huge collection it takes forever but other than that great app but like everything else you have to take good with bad. I know the developer will get it perfect because he actually cares about what he's doing. Highly recommended
5/17/2011There are other better cheaper solutions in the marketplace. I like the gesture support and the speech feature is kinda cool. If I could get it to work over the internet, I could tell my wife at home to pick up the phone. Lack of recorded TV support and not being able to connect to more than one Media Center, makes this app not worth the price at all.
