Use any photo as a map!
MapSnap GPS is a fast and easy handheld map for those situations where road maps aren't good enough and you can't download a map.
Just take a photo of a map using the camera in your device, mark your location using your inbuilt GPS, select the scale (or mark another location), and you're good to go.
Whether you're hiking, cycling, or just sick of endlessly unfolding and refolding tourist or amusement park maps, MapSnap GPS is the perfect tool!

MapSnap GPS
    • Allows you to photograph a map or use any image as a map
    • Shows your current GPS map position in real time
    • Adds a dynamic scale indicator (kilometres or miles) and a north indicator to every map
    • Can rotate maps to north, to your current bearing, or to true north (using the compass)
    • Supports SkyDrive/email GPX path export for upload to sites like Google or Bing maps
    • Has a realtime GPS dashboard
    • Can run under a locked screen
    • Automatically saves "snapped" maps and calibration data for every map you've used

Great app. This was well thought out and so useful. I wish I had bought it sooner.

This app was absolutely perfect for my hunting trip and I can see people using it for lots of other purposes. Couple feature requests... 1. Ability to select a point on a real map (Nokia Maps) as a calibration point 2. Ability to share calibrated maps either via SkyDrive or NFC TapToShare 3. Having the map follow your orientation doesn't work. Well actually I think it's upside down.

Really good app and now updated to upload tracks to Skydrive. As far as I know, this is the only WP7.5 app that lets you calibrate and use your own map images. Calibration is easy; just right click on Google Maps for coordinates and enter the data in the calibration screen on the app. Apps works flawlessly in airline mode and in areas with no cell service. The developer is really on top of things as well--I asked a question by email and got a reply that solved my problem in 30 minutes. A must-have app if you go navigating off-road or offline.

Such a great idea, snap a picture of any map and away you go! Zero data connection needed.

Very happy with this app. I have used it several times I search and rescue trainings and It has been useful. The scale calibration seems more accurate, but that is understandable. I think thus will be useful on missions, so def. Worth the money in my opinion.
