The Authenticator app generates security codes you can use to help keep your Microsoft account secure. You can add your Microsoft account to the app by scanning a barcode or by manually entering a secret key. The app implements industry-standard security code generation and may also work with other services and providers. You can learn more about keeping your Microsoft account secure at

** The Authenticator app is not supported for use with Windows Azure Multi-Factor Authentication. Use the Mutli Factor Authentication app for this.

What is this? It is generating some codes for hours and hours and nothing else

Why not set this app to link to the Microsoft account? I had about 10 accounts in the app and after a phone reset i had to set all of them again. Cannot believe that you do not provide a backup option for the accounts in case you loose the phone - upgrade the phone -etc .. Gishhhh.. :(

Finally I could generate codes for Microsoft and Facebook Accounts 😁. Goodbye SMS😄.

If my Microsoft account password could be stored on my phone, then I wouldn't have to authenticate myself on my phone, from the app, to it's website, via the web browser that are built into my phone. While I enjoy providing feedback to Microsoft for free, the obstacles I experience with Windows after 15 years are too many.

Nice and easy, but app itself need some kind of protection, like pin or password.

Well done. Simple. Clean. Works with my Microsoft account and a freebie third party provider we use internally for 2FA called SMS2. Note: Version does not recognize HMAC one-time password (OATH HOTP) barcodes. Perhaps this could be added in a future update?
