Ringtones, sounds, and volume
Ringtones and sounds are a good way to help you decide when to pay attention to your phone. You can assign different sounds to different kinds of alerts and different ringtones to different people.
But if you're in a place where your ringing, jangling phone could be an embarrassment or an offense, you'll want to know where the volume buttons are. They make it easy to turn the sound up and down for calls or music, and to quickly silence your phone. In Settings, you can choose whether using the volume buttons will set your phone to vibrate or be totally silent.
You can also create your own ringtones. To learn more, see Create ringtones.
