Share a picture or video in a message
You can take a new picture and share it, or share a picture or video that's already on your phone. If you'd like to share a voice note or custom ringtone, you can do that too from the same place.

To take a picture and share it in a message

On Start, tap Messaging
> New
. -
Type the person's name, mobile phone number, or email address in the To: box.

Tap Attach
> Picture or video > Camera
. -
Press the camera button to take a picture, and then tap Accept.

Tap the message box, type a message if you'd like, and then tap Send
.
To share a saved picture or video in a message

On Start, tap Messaging
> New
. -
Type the person's name, mobile phone number, or email address in the To: box.

Tap Attach
, tap Picture or video, and then do one or more of the following:- To attach a picture, tap the album that contains the picture you want to share, and then tap the picture.
- To attach a video, tap Camera Roll, and then tap the video you want to share.

Tap the message box, type a message if you'd like, and then tap Send
.
Note
You can share multiple files in a text message. However, you can only share one file in an instant message.
To share a picture or video from the Pictures Hub in a message

On Start, tap Pictures.

Find a picture or video you want to share. (To share a picture from an online album, you'll need to save it to your phone first.)

Tap More
(or tap and hold the picture or video you want to share), tap Share, and then tap Messaging. -
Type the person's name, mobile phone number, or email address in the To: box.

Tap the message box, type a message if you'd like, and then tap Send
.
To share a voice note or custom ringtone in a message

On Start, tap Messaging
> New
. -
Type the person's name, mobile phone number, or email address in the To: box.

Tap Attach
, and then do one or more of the following:- To record and attach a voice note, tap Voice note, speak and record what you want to say, and then tap Done.
- To attach a custom ringtone (if you have one on your phone), tap Ringtone, and then tap a custom ringtone.

Tap the message box, type a message if you'd like, and then tap Send
.
Notes
- To attach multiple pictures to a text message or to attach a video, voice note, or custom ringtone to a message, your phone must be running the latest version of Windows Phone software (OS version 7.10.8773.98). If your phone is running an earlier version of Windows Phone software, you can only attach one picture to a text or instant message. For information about software updates, see Phone updates FAQ.
- Your mobile operator might charge you extra to send media files in a text message, and this service must be available with your current phone plan.
- Text messages that have media files attached are also called MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) messages.
- You can send a picture, video, voice note, or ringtone in a text message or in an instant message on Messenger. For more info, see Send a message.
- If you add a media file to a message but haven't sent it yet, you won't be able to switch between text and chat until you send the message or remove the file.
