Notes

  • To attach multiple pictures to a text message or to attach a video, voice note, or custom ringtone to a message, your phone must be running the latest version of Windows Phone software (OS version 7.10.8773.98). If your phone is running an earlier version of Windows Phone software, you can only attach one picture to a text or instant message. For information about software updates, see Phone updates FAQ.
  • Your mobile operator might charge you extra to send media files in a text message, and this service must be available with your current phone plan.
  • Text messages that have media files attached are also called MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) messages.
  • You can send a picture, video, voice note, or ringtone in a text message or in an instant message on Messenger. For more info, see Send a message.
  • If you add a media file to a message but haven't sent it yet, you won't be able to switch between text and chat until you send the message or remove the file.
