Changing your gamertag
A gamertag is like your nickname on Xbox LIVE. It's unique to you, and it's what other people see when they interact with you.
Your gamertag on your phone is associated with the Windows Live ID you used when you first sign in on your phone. So, if you're already an Xbox LIVE subscriber, you'll want to make sure that you use the Live ID associated with your gamertag. For more information, see Finding the Windows Live ID I used to create my gamertag and Which Windows Live ID should I use?
If you've already signed in with a Windows Live ID on your phone, but you want to change it, see Changing a Windows Live ID FAQ.
To change your gamertag
If you have a gold Xbox LIVE subscription, you can change your gamertag for 800 Microsoft Points.
You can change your gamertag from one of two places:
- Not sure what your gamertag is? In the Games Hub on your phone, flick to your Xbox LIVE profile – your gamertag will appear just above your name.
- After you've signed in with your Windows Live ID on your phone, you'll need to activate your Xbox LIVE account. Go to the Games hub, then select I already have an Xbox LIVE account and follow the instructions.
