Plex for Windows Phone brings the power of Plex to your mobile device. With Plex, you can stream your music, videos and photos from your home computers running Plex Media Server (available from http://www.plexapp.com/getplex/) and access content from a wide range of channels. Channels are available for iTunes, and for online services like YouTube, Vimeo and Revision3. There's also a remote control feature for Plex Media Center. Additionally, you can sign up for the myPlex service, which lets you connect to servers shared with you by your friends, queue videos from your web browser to watch later, and connect to your Plex Media Server at home wherever you are in the world via Wi-Fi or a cellular connection, with no configuration necessary! Plex Media Server streams your media directly from your computer, so there's no need to convert before viewing. Plex is smart, too - if your media isn't already in a format your device can play, it'll convert it on-the-fly. The trial version limits video playback to 30 seconds, but otherwise is fully functional. Limitations: • DRM-protected content is not supported. • ISO images are not supported. • VIDEO_TS folders are not supported. • PGS subtitles are not supported. • Audio formats Windows Phone can't play natively (e.g. FLAC) are not supported. Server Requirements: • A PC running Windows XP SP3 or later (Windows Vista or Windows 7 recommended), a Mac running OS X 10.6 or later, or an Intel machine running Linux. • In order to transcode to 480p, you need at least a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo processor. ★★★ NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE PLEX MEDIA SERVER INSTALLED AND RUNNING TO STREAM LOCAL MEDIA. VERSION 0.9.6 OR HIGHER IS REQUIRED TO SUPPORT PLEX FOR WINDOWS PHONE. http://www.plexapp.com/getplex/ ★★★ A full description of the changes in each release is available at http://bit.ly/HgRvJy.
05/02/2014Needs a lot if improvements
09/12/2013Appears no longer actively supported, long complaints list on Plex forum re. Windows Phone simply not working gone ignored. Was great, now worthless :(
07/12/2013Needs an update - I have just switched from Android and the difference is huge. Acceptable interface but slow comparing to other players. Takes good 20s to start playing 1gb movie on local network with decent wireless n router. Major bugs are still there. Music playback stops when you hit next track. You can't sort music list by albums. 1080p is not supported at all - you will have big black strip on one side of your screen on full HD WP8 device. Icons look ugly on dark background. Guys, come on - this app is not free.
22/11/2013Can't praise the developers enough for Plex its excellent, new WP8 app announced on the Windows Phone Blog, can't wait, thanks!
12/11/2013(Lumia 1020) It's Plex. It works well and does everything I could need. Like the other commenter I am concerned about the lack of updates.
20/10/2013Really needs an update as its been over a year now! Support for subtitles and audio boost are essential!
31/08/2013FOR THE PEOPLE WITH CONNECTION FAILURES: I REBOOTED THE PLEXSERVER MACHINE AND IT WORKS FINE AGAIN. Nice app but no support, disappointing..
21/08/2013Lovely app and media server but NO support for Windows Phones, unable to move to next track which makes the listening to music useless, I am considering a different media server which offer support. Big Shame. :(
