To use this first direct Banking on the go app you need to be a first direct customer and registered for first direct Internet Banking. 

We know that you like to manage your money when you're "on the go". That's why we've created this app. It allows you to see and use some of your Internet Banking services more easily on a smaller screen. 

Our app allows you to: 

• view balances and up to your last 90 transactions 
• make transfers between your accounts with us 
• make payments to a person or organisation you have paid before using Internet Banking 

At the moment, we are unable to offer our recently launched Digital Secure Key with this app.  You can access the app with your first direct Internet Banking logon details.

You'll still need to log on to full Internet Banking at regularly to access all services. We recommend you do this at least every 14 days. Some of the Internet Banking services that you can only access by logging on at are: 

• full statement information 
• details of monthly charges, fees and interest 
• sending, receiving and viewing secure messages 
• setting up payments to a person or organisation you haven't paid before 
• cancelling or amending a payment you have set up 

We don't charge you for this app, but we can't say the same for your network provider, who may charge you for downloading and using the app. You'll be responsible for these charges. 

We recommend that you don't use this app abroad, but if you do, you'll need to make sure that it's permitted by local law, and remember your network provider's charges may be higher. 

The app may be withdrawn at any time; we will tell you if this is going to happen.

    I can login I guess but AWFUL design and missing loads of functionality. It is basically a useful way to check my balance and that is it. Sometimes I wonder where these companies hire their developers from, it is so amateurish.

    Always have to log in twice? Does not appear to register user logging out from previous visit? Apart from that I like it.

    No good on a Windows. Phone can't even get it to open it try's to up date but wont complete

    Not great unfortunately. Fine for checking balances but I'm consistently unable to make any payment transfers (unable to connect to our servers error message). The UI is unfortunately not fantastic either. A missed opportunity I feel. As an internet/phone bank I feel First Direct need to improve the experience of this app.

    This app should be a lot better and is just a rehash of the iOS one, which means it's bland and dated. Come on FD, it can't be beyond your IT team to develop a better WP app than this! Update: for some reason nearly every time I log in it tells me that my last session was timed out so I have to log in twice. I definitely logged out correctly previously. Proves that the testing strategy for this poor application was as bad as all the other aspects of its development.

    Simply not working, I can't connect to my account since I can't activate the digital secure key. I don't know where they have taken the screenshots but I've never been able to see them. A mobile webiste would work better. Please fix this, this is the only really annoying thing with this bank, I'm happy otherwise !

    Added: Still not working on Lumia 930. This is disgraceful for a normally brilliant bank. Still no response to my complaint that the password rules do not allow special characters. First Direct, for this, you should be ashamed. Old: Does not work on my Nokia 625 with 8.1 - Very disappointed. Telephone support was pointless. Took days to update & get signed in but still errors with service temporarily unavailable message. Passwords do not allow special characters which is mad as it reduces security massively. Come on First Direct & sort this out.

    It just doesn't work. FD are making banking more difficult by the day. Time for a different bank, I think.

    Pretty darn poor. Have to log in twice 90% of the time as the first time it thinks I've times out. UI is vile, not making use of any of the rich functionality available from windows phone. The ugly as heck loading image slapped over the top of the screen from the start means you progress through the app with dread. Considering this is digital only bank it's appalling and has really damaged it's image for me.

    Poor show. Takes two attempts to logon as the first one is always rejected with a security timeout. Only very basic functionality in app compared with iOS version. Hope this is improved on and they add support for secure key in a future release.
