    Tip

    For the best music experience in Xbox Music, consider subscribing to an Xbox Music Pass. For a monthly fee, subscribers can download or stream an unlimited number of songs to their phone, Xbox One, Xbox 360, tablet, or PC. The Xbox Music Pass also allows you to take full advantage of your cloud collection—a virtual record bin that you can listen to on your phone without actually downloading or storing music. It also makes syncing with a USB cable a thing of the past—fewer wires is definitely a good thing! Learn more at Xbox.com.

    To stream or download music to your phone

    1. On Start Start button or in the App list, tap Music Music icon.

    2. Swipe over to Get music.

    3. Pan up or down to browse through the available categories, or tap Search Search icon and type a song title, album title, or artist name.

    4. When you find the music you're looking for, tap it, and then do one of the following:

      • To hear a song sample, simply tap a song.
      • To buy or download a song or album, tap Buy Buy icon, and then tap Buy.
      • To download a song without buying it, tap Download Download icon. (Xbox Music Pass subscription required.)
      • To play a song or album without downloading it (that is, to stream it), simply tap a song and it will begin playing automatically. (Xbox Music Pass subscription required to play entire songs.)
      • If you have an Xbox Music Pass and you'd like to buy a song, tap and hold the song, and then tap Buy.

    To download songs from your cloud collection

    If you have an Xbox Music Pass that you use on your computer or you've previously purchased songs from the Xbox Music Store or the Zune Marketplace, then you have songs in your cloud collection that you can download to your phone.

    1. On Start Start button or in the App list, tap Music Music icon.

    2. Swipe over to Collection, and then do one of the following:

      • Tap Artists, tap an artist, and then tap the album that contains the songs you want to download.
      • Tap Albums, and then tap the album that contains the songs you want to download.
      • Tap Songs.
      • Tap Genres, and then tap the genre that contains the songs you want to download.
      • Tap Playlists, and then tap the playlist that contains the songs you want to download.
      • Tap Radio, and then tap the radio station that contains the songs you want to download.
    3. Tap Download Download icon next to the songs you want to download.

    Notes

    • You can also copy iTunes music to your phone or sync music to your phone by using your PC.
    • Songs that aren't stored on your phone have streaming Streaming icon icons next to them.
    • Xbox Music Store is not available in all locations or languages. Store content might also vary by market: not all items are available for purchase, download, or streaming.

    Tip

    If you buy a lot of TV shows, consider subscribing to Season Pass. For a monthly fee, the latest episodes of your favorite TV shows are automatically added to your phone or other devices. Learn more

    To stream or download videos to your phone

    1. In the App list, tap Video Video icon.

    2. Swipe over to TV store, Movies store, or Spotlight to browse the available categories, or tap Search Search icon and type a TV show or movie title, actor name, or other related info.

      Tip

      If you know the network or studio of the TV show or movie you want to watch, tap a category, and then tap Filter Filter icon to browse by network or studio.

    3. When you find the TV show or movie you want to watch, tap it, and then do one of the following:

      • Buy a TV episode. Tap an episode, and then tap Buy HD or Buy SD. (Tap Switch to HD or Switch to SD Switch icon to switch between the two.) Tap Confirm to complete your purchase.
      • Buy a TV season. Tap a season from the season box, then tap Buy Season __ HD or Buy Season __ SD. (Tap Switch to HD or Switch to SD Switch icon to switch between the two.) Tap Confirm to complete your purchase.
      • Rent or buy a movie. Tap Rent HD or Rent SD (if available), or tap Buy HD or Buy SD (if available). (Tap Switch to HD or Switch to SD Switch icon to switch between the two.) Tap Confirm to complete your purchase.

  • Getting audio and video podcasts has never been simpler—use the podcasts app to download or stream instantly.

    To stream or download a podcast to your phone

    1. In the App list, tap Podcasts Podcasts icon.

    2. Swipe over to Get podcasts, and then type a podcast name, keyword, or feed URL in the search bar.

    3. When you find the podcast you're looking for, tap it, and then do one of the following:

      • In Overview, you can read a podcast's description. Tap Play Play icon to stream the newest podcast available, or swipe over to Episodes to select from a list of episodes, and then tap Play Play icon.
      • To subscribe to the series, tap Subscribe Subscribe icon. The most recent podcast in the series will automatically download to your phone. (You can choose how many episodes to auto-download when you tap More More elipses icon > Series settings.) The podcast series will appear in your favorites and collection.
      • To manually download a podcast episode, tap the podcast series in your favorites or collection. Swipe over to Episodes, tap and hold the episode you want to download, and then tap Download. You can also tap any episode in the list to see more info about it or to download it. You'll need to subscribe to a podcast series in order to download episodes.

    Notes

    • You can also sync podcasts to your phone by using your PC.
    • By default, podcasts download over a Wi-Fi connection. You can allow podcasts to be downloaded over your cellular data connection, but your mobile operator might charge you extra for data usage. For more ways to get podcasts onto your phone, see Sync music, ringtones, and podcasts using my computer.
    • To delete a podcast episode, tap and hold the episode that you want to delete from your favorites or collection, and then tap Delete.
    • To unsubscribe from a podcast series, swipe over to Collection, tap and hold the podcast series you want to unsubscribe from, and then tap Unsubscribe.
    • Podcasts that aren't stored on your phone have streaming Streaming icon icons next to them.
