Sharing files over Bluetooth

Do you want to share a photo or other file with a friend who has a smartphone, laptop or tablet with them? There are a couple of ways of doing this from your phone — one of them is to share it over Bluetooth.

Notes

  • Before you can share files using Bluetooth, you need to pair your phone with the device you want to share with. For more info about pairing, see Pairing your phone with a Bluetooth accessory.
  • To share files this way, the other device needs to have Bluetooth and support the Bluetooth Object Push Profile (OPP) too. To find out if the device you're sharing with supports this, see the documentation for that device.
  • Another way of sharing files with another Windows Phone 8 is to tap the two phones together and share files using Tap + Send, which uses NFC (near-field communication). For more info about sharing files this way, see Tapping to share photos, websites and more.
